Violet Signet of the Grand Restorer
Does this mean that Violet Eye faction is only applicable to casters? Maybe there is a separate quest for melee folks? I cannot find very much info regarding the Violet Eye online.
If I remember correct the Violet Eye is keeping an eye on Medivh or something. This is probably like Brood of Nozdormu was for AQ as these are for Karazhan.
This is somewhat trashy for Exalted Violet Eye, with the same 115 ilevel as the blue ring from the Black Morass quest. Then again, it's completely free, and Kharazan spits out rep fairly quickly.
I can't decide whether the ring is worth a healing enchant, as it's barley even epic. Oh well, at least it looks cool.
This is a reward from getting Exalted with the Violet Eye, if you choose the "Path of the Violet Restorer" questline.
The spirit on this ring presents conflicts for Paladins and Shamans since they gain little from it, preferring mana/5 instead. On one hand, it's only 17 spirit, not that much wasted item budget overall. On the other hand, I know a raiding shaman who has this ring and never uses it; he uses blue mana/5 rings instead, and wishes he'd chosen the DPS ring for his soloing set. And a Paladin may want to choose the "mage" ring because it has spellcrit. Alternatives:
Violet Signet of the Archmage
Violet Signet of the Great Protector
Violet Signet of the Master Assassin
Buffed on PTR, new stats are;
Violet Signet of Grand Restorer
24 Stamina (+3)
23 Intelligence (+2)
17 Spirit (+3)
Increases healing done by 55 (+7)
The iLVL of this seems to be wrong (or at least custom edited by Blizzard).
Compare this ring to a iLVL 125 reward from Magtheridon:
Equip: Increases healing done by spells and effects by up to 55.
Equip: Restores 8 mana per 5 sec.
8 mana per 5 should be >>> 17 spirit. And the jump from 23 to 25 int should be greater than the difference between 21 and 24 stamina, given stamina being worth less budgetwise.
My math puts this item at iLVL 125, maybe 120.
Had the Grand Restorer variant and wasn't fond of the spirit as a pally so when I was screwing around and blowing gold socketing and chanting retribution peices I had been hoarding away to raid Ret and see how it 'felt' (and if I, having both been Retribution and Holy, could legitimately justify a retribution paladins on raids) I swapped this one for the Master Assassin variant.
I couldn't stick with Retribution as it was (on a 'gut' level not due to pass or fail sort of decision) and when I went back I made up my mind to grab the Archmage ring that I had been wanting over the Restorer version . Unfortunately, there is still the blue '?' of the repeatable quest but the quest is still "Restorer No More" and requires that I turn in a Violet Signet of the Grand Restorer (which I don't have) and no additional quest to turn in the Violet Signet of the Master Assassin (which I do have).
For now it seems the change is a one time thing unless it gets corrected.
For Resto Shamans the spirit is a useless stat, unless you have a lot of downtime...
I'm dual wielding
They have completely identical stats.
Requires Level 70
Equip: Increases healing done by up to 46 and damage done by up to 16 for all magical spells and effects.
Equip: Restores 6 mana per 5 sec.
Which have 6mp5 on each of them.. IMO 6mp5 is > than 9 healing.
As a healing paladin, I am thoroughly underwhelmed by this ring. My suggestion would be to take the spirit stats and reallocate them to mp5.
For Shadow Priests and Affliction Locks doing KZ in the months before WotLK, you might consider this ring instead of the
. The crit isn't great for you, and the spirit will become especially useful to Shadow Priests. With the change of spellpower, once the expansion hits, you'll have a ring in your bank that is well suited to your needs, and it only costs you a ring that is not so great for you anyways.
If you are on the respective quest but have misplaced (deleted) your violet signet, you may delete the quest to re-obtain the signet from
