Legplates of the Endless Void
Seeing a rather LARGE amount of tanking gear with a huge amount of dodge rating on the new gear.... are they trying to tell us something? Wondering if all the paladin tank gear will have as much dodge as this stuff. Frankly I hope they stick to the formula from T7-7.5 with giving us Shield Block Rating/Value....
If by "paladin tank gear" you mean the t8 set, we'll find out soon. After hitting the block cap (easily done in t7 and perhaps easier in t8), block becomes rather useless for a paladin unless you're dealing with an amount of hits that eat all your holy shield charges (ie, probably only trash). At that point, dodge becomes considerably more desirable.
On these leggings: three sockets, great dodge, great defense, great stam. Incredible item for any plate-wearing tank.
Personally, I am tired of seeing dodge on tanking gear. Unless the rage on dodge/parry/block change comes about, all dodge does is screw me out of rage gen and therefore threat. These would be nice for a Death Knight or Paladin, but as a warrior, dodge is by far the least desirable tanking stat. I would prefer Attack Power to be honest.
Although you don't gain rage when dodging, there is always room for more avoidance when tanking. It's not like you'd be dodging everything, rage-starving you... A warrior tank should be receiving rage almost constantly with the proper glyphs and talents, not to mention the ability to adjust rotations and such to manage the rage reserve (or gains). I'd take avoidance, saving my healer's mana, before I worry about one extra attack. Certainly, if the one extra attack is a defining line between holding aggro or losing it and wiping a raid/dungeon group, I see your point. However, this again is not necessarily a matter of gear; more like mechanics, since you should be easily holding aggro during most boss fights, etc.
These leggings also provide a comparable amount of avoidance through parry, which will increase your rate of attack in certain situations. This ultimately allows the tank to increase DPS and TPS, which imo, should make up for the chance that you'd miss out on a bit of rage through dodges.
Overall, the stamina and strength are fantastic (strength seems to be much higher than many other lvl200+ leggings). Plus the three sockets just make these, hands down, EPIC pants.
Plus the three sockets just make these, hands down, elite pants.
I believe the proper word is "
These are possibly the best itemized piece of tank gear I've seen in WOTLK. It will be hard to upgrade from these pants even with an increase in iLevel.
I hope the guy who made the comment about dodge on warrior gear was joking. I'm pretty sure he was.
That's two words.
With 3 sockets, amazing mitigation & stamina, and a good amount of strength, it's safe to say these are the best pants tanks are going to see for a while.
Any good guesses on which hard mode these drop from?
i think you mean speculation instead of skepticism.
Algalon the Observer, imo
Since they were discovered on the PTR, I'd assume that they're most likely a drop from Vezax (Yogg-Saron and Algalon weren't active on the PTR). They're 239, and very well itemised, so would almost certainly be hardmode too.
Where-ever these drop, /druel @ the 3 gem slots, avoidance, stam, strenght on these things. Seriously, best in slot for warrior tank or pally.
I agree with Fallenguild. This looks like an Algalon 25 drop to me. For one, it's perfectly itemized, something Blizzard only does for their favorite and the most difficult encounters. It's also ilvl 239, a hardmode drop.
Plus the name gives it away. "Endless Void." Our friendly Observer is a messenger to the Pantheon. He travels the Twisting Nether scouting planets. The Twisting nether is also known as "The Void." Basically outerspace with magic.
It goes without saying these will be difficult to get, but oh-so worth it.
According to MMO Champion, these were summoned up by a GM at some point. It's pretty certain that these are Algalon loot; that's what they claim anyway.
Here is a link to a compare of this to a few other pants kind of near the same ilvl.
and wiping a raid/dungeon group
If you wipe a dungeon group with these, you should uninstall immediately.
It will probably have a small chance of dropping from other hardmodes, as with some other items.
acording to maxdps.com, if u have high in everything except attack power, critt, armorpenetration, hit expertise and all that stuff.. these are the best dps legs in the game
Confirmed to drop off of 25 man Algalon.
It dropped for me today in Algalon :D
Avoidance does not save much healer mana unless your effective health is greater than 2 hits. Guaranteed mitigation does save healer mana (for example, the armor legs from Kologarn are better than these)
